Family of Fatal Railroad Accident Victim Filed Lawsuit
The family of a woman who was killed in a train accident sued CapMetro, according to a February 20 article by KVUE.
31-year-old Erica Findley’s father is suing the Capital Metro, the City of Austin, Austin Energy, the train designer and the man operating the train that killed his daughter. Erica died in 2018 after being struck while walking in East Fifth Street between Chicon and Comal Street. The lawsuit alleges that there was no adequate lighting nor train horn sounding at the time of the incident. However, CapMetro assured that all train operation rules were followed during the incident. Regardless, Findley’s family is seeking damages of $1 million.
