One killed in fatal Milam County truck accident
MILAM COUNTY, TX- A young woman was struck by a semi-truck on US 79 while attempting to jump start her vehicle on Tuesday, reports local media sources.
29-year-old Stephanie Louisa Torres-Herrera was on the side of the road with a 1997 Honda Civic in an attempt to get the vehicle jump started by a 2015 Ford F-150 pickup truck. A 2014 Freightliner semi truck headed eastbound on US 79 had limited visibility due to fog and went off the road into the shoulder, striking Torres-Herrera. The woman was searching for something in the trunk of the Honda when she was struck.
The 52-year-old truck driver and the Ford driver sustained minor injuries. We will be monitoring for updates from this ongoing investigation.
