KXAN reports that Austin Fire responded to a fire at 6607 Brodie Lane shortly before 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning. While they successfully prevented the flames from leaping to other buildings, their attempts to put out the blaze was hampered by frozen pipes and hydrants.
The icy and impassable roads caused by the snowstorm also presented logistical challenges. Residents from 20 units had been displaced as a result of the fire, and the suspension of Capital Metro service left AFD unsure of where to transport them.
This was one of the three structure fires linked to fireplace usage that AFD responded to yesterday.
