At least 1 dead following crash on FM 1626 in S Austin

AUSTIN, TX – At least one person was killed in a traffic collision on FM 1626 in South Austin earlier this morning, KXAN reports.

Travis County Sheriff deputies were called to the intersection of FM 1626 and Katy Lane at about 10 a.m. Friday. They said that a traffic fatality had occurred there, and by 10:20 a.m. had closed the area for their investigation.

Closures are likely to remain ongoing for some time.

ATCEMS responds to multi-car collision that injures 4

AUSTIN, TX – Four people were injured, including a child, following a multi-vehicle collision in the Blue Hill Estates neighborhood of Southwest Austin yesterday.

KVUE reports that the crash happened at SH 71 and Thomas Springs Road shortly before 2 p.m. on Tuesday. While the circumstances of the collision are unclear at this time, it appears that at least two vehicles were involved, one of which also collided with a fire hydrant and toppled some utility lines.

At least one person had to be extricated from their vehicle.

One adult was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. A second adult was hospitalized at Dell Seton with less severe injuries, while a third declined transit to a hospital.

An injured child was transported to Dell Children’s, and is expected to recover.

Traffic in the area was affected for some time following the crash.

Pedestrian falls to death from 290 flyover

AUSTIN, TX – A pedestrian was killed in a multi-vehicle collision after falling from a US 290 flyover on Thursday night, CBS Austin reports.

Three vehicles were ultimately involved in the crash, which occurred in the 5000 block of of the W US 290 service road in southwest Austin.

Emergency responders pronounced the victim dead at the scene. It is unclear whether anyone in the vehicles was hurt.

Collision closes lanes on SH-290

TRAVIS COUNTY, TX – Officials with the Travis County Sheriff’s office shut down at least one lane following an afternoon collision in Northeast Austin Friday.

The accident was reported at about 3:19 p.m. in the westbound lanes of SH-290 near George Bush Street, according to the Austin-Travis County traffic report page.

Information regarding the number of vehicles involved in the collision or if any injuries were sustained as a result has not yet been made public.

This situation is still ongoing. Deputies are urging motorists to find an alternate route around this portion of SH-290 as delays and closures are likely throughout Friday evening’s rush-hour traffic.
