AUSTIN, TX – A person was killed after being struck by a train in the downtown area last night, according to KXAN.
The accident occurred near an Amtrak station near the intersection of Baylor Street and W. 3rd Street at about 9:10 p.m.
Initial reports stated that a person was trapped beneath a train after being hit by it. The victim died at the scene.
The identity of the victim and the cause of the accident were not immediately available.

BASTROP, TX – A woman was severely injured after she collided with a Union Pacific train in Bastrop yesterday afternoon, according to the Austin American-Statesman.
The accident occurred near the intersection of Persimmon Street and Wilson Street at about 2 p.m., when a 60-year-old driver of a Jeep Cherokee reportedly drove around the arms of a railroad crossing as a train was headed towards her.
The Jeep and the train collided, causing the car to lose its roof and roll over onto its side.
The driver, who has yet to be publicly identified, was airlifted to the hospital in Austin with severe wounds.
No occupants of the train were reported as hurt.
Authorities continue to investigate the collision at this time.

KYLE, TX – A pedestrian was fatally struck by a train in Kyle yesterday afternoon, according to a report published by KXAN.
The accident was reported by KXAN at 5:39 p.m. and occurred near I-35 at the Opal Ln railroad crossing.
Details of the collision are slim at this time, but officers closed the roadways in the area yesterday for the investigation, which continues at this time.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
