The suspect who injured three children in a car crash admitted to being intoxicated during the incident, according to a February 12 article by KWTX.

The incident happened on January 25 in Killeen, when a 10-year-old and two 3-year-old twins were injured. In her affidavit, 33-year-old Shaunda Jenae Walker admitted to have drunken four to five vodka drinks as she was driving home at the time of the crash. The kids were her passengers during the crash. Currently, Walker remains in jail in lieu of bonds totaling $140,000.

Fatal Hit-And-Run Victim Identified

The victim of a fatal hit-and-run has been identified, according to a February 11 article by KVUE.

He was identified as 41-year-old Jacob Boelter. He died after two cars struck his vehicle on February 7, around 1:30 AM, on Bluff Springs Road near Bitter Creek Drive. He was driving when a black 2015 Nissan Rogue struck his vehicle. Then, he was struck a second time by a green 2002 Mazda Protégé. Boelter was sent to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 3:24 AM. This incident is Austin’s 13th fatal crash of 2020.

Man Arrested After Two-Car Collision Killed One

The collision happened on February 10, at the intersection of Rutland Drive and Mearns Meadow Boulevard. 21-year-old Elmer Cortez-Reyes was driving his 2009 black Mitsubishi Lancer when he ran a red light, crashing into a 2001 blue Saturn sedan driven by 25-year-old James A. Mares. Unfortunately, Mares was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities charged Cortez-Reyes with intoxication manslaughter.

Police Officer Injured After Drunk Teen Driver Crash

A police officer was injured after being struck by a drunk teen driver, according to a February 10 article by KXAN.

An officer responded to a frantic homeowner’s call who exclaimed her house is being burglarized. When officers arrived, they encountered at least 10 teenagers nearby. Immediately, they fled the scene but struck a police cruiser. In response, the officers arrested the juveniles. It turned out that the driver was 14-15 years old, too young to have a driver’s license. Also, he was driving his parent’s vehicle. The teen was charged with DUI minor, driving under the influence, minor in possession of alcohol and possession of drug paraphernalia.
