Intoxicated driver sends 4 people to hospital

HOUSTON, TX – A 7-year-old boy has suffered severe head injuries and is now in critical condition following a two-vehicle accident involving a drunk driver, KHOU reports.

The accident happened on Sunday night at approximately 9:25 p.m. in the 7800 block of Highway 6 at Pavilion Point.

Eighteen-year-old Kevin Lozano was driving a Nissan Altima when he failed to yield the right of away and turned in front of a Honda Accord occupied by two people.

Lozano attempted to run away from the scene, but was later brought back by witnesses.

Two other individuals were in the car with him, a 27-year-old female who was in the passenger seat and her 7-year-old son who was unrestrained in the back seat, according to police. Both of them had to be transported to the hospital by Life Flight.

The other two individuals in the Honda Accord were taken to the hospital by ambulance with injured limbs.

Lozano was uninjured and charged with four counts of failure to stop, render aid, and another four counts of intoxication assault.

Authorities are investigating where Lozano was drinking before the accident and who facilitated the help of him becoming intoxicated so they too can face charges.
