2 Austin residents killed, 9-year-old injured in Abilene wrong-way crash

ABILENE, TX – A 9-year-old boy was injured and two adult Austin residents were killed in a fiery, wrong-way crash in Abilene on Tuesday, according to KTAB.

The accident occurred on US 277 at about 10:50 a.m. when the driver of a Ford pickup truck attempted to make a left turn without waiting for traffic to clear.

The Ford collided head-on with a 2013 Mazda, which then went off the side of the roadway and burst into flames.

Two occupants of the Mazda, 48-year-old Jose Minam and 44-year-old Sara Minam, both of Austin, died as a result.

A 9-year-old Austin boy was taken to the hospital and then later released.

The identity of the other driver has not yet been released.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the collision at this time.
