Electrocuted Gatesville worker taken to Austin burn center

GATESVILLE, TX – A worker was electrocuted Monday while attempting to fix a sign in Gatesville, then transported to a burn center in Austin.

KWTX says the accident happened at the intersection of East Main Street and North 24th Street at about 4 p.m., when a lift the worker was using to reach a sign came into contact with active powerlines.

Firefighters cut power to the lines and pulled the worker from the lift. The victim was then taken to an unnamed burn center in Austin.

FedEx truck involved in Mopac Expressway fire accident

AUSTIN, TX – Austin-Travis County fire officials rushed to put out a vehicle fire involving a FedEx truck on the Mopac Expressway Tuesday afternoon.

The fire was spotted in the 10000 block of the Mopac Expwy. shortly after 2:25 p.m., not far from the 45th Street overpass, according to KXAN.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and the driver escaped without sustaining any injuries as a result. Details regarding what may have caused the truck to burst into flames are still under investigation.
