Cyclist killed overnight in hit-and-run crash

AUSTIN, TX – According to KXAN, a bicyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash in the northbound lanes of the I-35 frontage road near Tech Ridge Boulevard.

The crash took place at around 11 p.m. last night. An unknown driver struck a bicyclist before fleeing the crash scene.

The victim received CPR but was pronounced dead at the crash scene.

Police are continuing to search for the culprit.

UPDATE: Driver killed in crash on FM 620 identified

AUSTIN, TX – According to KXAN, authorities have identified the driver who was killed in a multi-vehicle crash on FM 620 on Wednesday.

The accident took place near the Mansfield Dam at around 3 p.m. The victim, Thomas Martinez, 56, was driving a Chevy Tahoe when he entered oncoming traffic and struck a Volvo semi-truck. Martinez then crashed into a Subaru Outback.

It is currently unclear what caused Martinez to veer into oncoming traffic. The roadway was closed for several hours as first responders cleared the accident.

AUSTIN, TX – According to KXAN, one person has died following a crash on FM 620, near the Mansfield Dam.

The accident took place yesterday afternoon at around 3 p.m. The victim was extricated from their vehicle by first responders but later died at the crash scene.

The roadway was closed as authorities worked to clear the scene. This accident is still under investigation. If more information on the crash is released, then this story will be updated.

Woman arrested following fatal six-vehicle crash on I-35

AUSTIN, TX – According to KXAN, a woman has been arrested following a fatal six-vehicle crash on I-35.

The accident took place near William Cannon Drive at around 10:30 p.m. last night. The suspect Amber Thompson, 39, reportedly ran a red light and was hit by another vehicle.

One victim died following the accident and at least one person was hospitalized in critical condition. Thompson has been charged with intoxication manslaughter for her role in the crash.

Rescue efforts turn to recovery after vehicle reportedly sinks into lake

AUSTIN, TX – A rescue operation for a vehicle that sank into Lady Bird Lake late Friday night turned into a recovery operation, according to the official Twitter account for the Austin-Travis County EMS.

Multiple agencies responded to a call at 11:37 p.m. in the area of 50 Pleasant Valley Road, where a vehicle reportedly sank into the water.

Rescue swimmers and helicopter units attempted to locate missing people or vehicles for over a half-hour but were unsuccessful.

Further efforts will focus on the recovery of a body or vehicle, according to ATCEMS.
