Lane closed at SH 45/Louis Henna Blvd; plan detour

AUSTIN, TX-  A vehicle crash was reported at the I-45 southbound in Round Rock on the evening of October 12, according to TxDOT Austin reports.

Authorities said that the lane of SH45/Louis Henna Boulevard was closed due to the crash.

They also said that detour would be at the frontage road at Exit 251.

There are no other details about the crash reported.

Austin-Travis County EMS see “historic” number of responses

AUSTIN, TX – Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services responded to an “historic” number of calls yesterday, as icy conditions plagued the region and led to an increased number of accidents.

CBS Austin reports that ATCEMS were called to 1,435 accidents yesterday, including 93 for falls, 69 for exposure, 13 for carbon monoxide poisoning, and nine motor vehicle collisions. That record volume continued into today, with ATCEMS captain Darren Noak reporting 129 calls between midnight and an early morning interview with the station.

Noak said that EMS had already responded to eight carbon monoxide calls, as people were resorting to unsafe means of heating their homes during the cold snap.

One hospitalized after falling in Bull Creek Greenbelt

AUSTIN, TX – Officials with Austin-Travis County emergency services responded to a slip-and-fall accident that left one person injured near the Bull Creek Greenbelt.

According to the official Twitter page of Austin-Travis County EMS, the incident occurred when the victim was attempting to leave within the 7000 block of Spicewood Springs Road shortly before 5:00 p.m.

Officials treated the patient at the scene and prepared them to be transported to the hospital for further evaluation. Their injuries have not been deemed life-threatening at this time.

One critically injured after falling from a cliff in Lago Vista

TRAVIS COUNTY, TX – Officials with the Travis County and Pedernales fire departments reduced an individual who had fallen from a cliff near the Colorado River in Lago Vista Thursday night.

According to the official Twitter page of Austin-Travis County EMS, the incident occurred at 2600 Patriot Avenue near the Estate on Lake Travis shortly after 10:30 p.m.

Officials say the patient fell between 20-30 feet from the cliff and landed close to the water’s edge where they were rescued by emergency services. The victim was then transported by helicopter to Dell Seton Medical Center.

Details regarding what may have caused the fall are still under investigation as of Friday night.

Pedestrian struck and killed by car

AUSTIN, TX – According to KXAN, a pedestrian was hit and killed in northwest Austin Wednesday afternoon.

The adult pedestrian was struck in the 7900 block of Parmer Lane around 4:40 p.m. and pronounced dead at the scene.

TxDot said Parmer Lane was closed west of SH 130 and delays were expected.

Swimmer hospitalized after being struck by boat

AUSTIN, TX – According to the Austin American-Statesman, an adult individual has been hospitalized after being hit by a boat near Mansfield Dam Park while swimming on Wednesday morning.

Emergency paramedics responded to the scene at 4370 Mansfield Dam Road, near Lake Travis, at 9:49 a.m.

The victim was transported to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.

The incident is still being investigated.
