Large truck burst into flames

AUSTIN, TX – KXAN reported a truck that burst into flames the morning of May 11 in southeast Austin.

The Austin Fire department responded to the location of the fire on the 7600 block of Bluff Springs Road with support from TCSO.

A KXAN witness, Brian McKinney, sent in a video of the truck near a gas station where you can see large plumes of smoke as firefighters are extinguishing the fire.

Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run

AUSTIN, TX – According to KXAN, a male pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run early Monday morning, May 11 on East Rundberg Lane located in north Austin.

The hit-and-run occurred around 12:50 p.m. east of I-35 road, according to Austin police.

Police closed all lanes on Rundberg road after the accident, including the eastbound and westbound of Interstate 35.

The vehicle and driver that fled have not been identified.

Woman involved in fatal crash identified

AUSTIN, TX – A 29-year-old woman that was killed in a car accident in northwest Austin on May 6 has been identified, according to KXAN.

The victim, Mary Casey from Round Rock, was in the passengers seat in a 2015 Honda Fit on Spicewood Springs Road.

DPS confirmed that the vehicle was traveling at about 35 mph when it left the road and collided against a tree at about 1:20 a.m. on Wednesday.

The male driver was taken to St. David’ Hospital in Round Rock to treat injuries.

Pedestrian hit by SUV, hospitalized in critical condition

AUSTIN, TX – A pedestrian was hit by an SUV on Friday night in southeast Austin and has been transported to the hospital, according to KXAN and the official  Austin-Travis County EMS Twitter feed.

The crash occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the crossing of East Riverside Drive and South Pleasant Valley Road.

The patient was left unconscious and hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. No further information is available at this time.

Suspected drunk driver indicted in fatal crash

SAN ANTONIO, TX – According to News 4 San Antonio, a local man accused of drunk driving and driving the wrong way killing another driver has been indicted by authorities.

The accident occurred along Loop 1604 at the Chase Hill Boulevard exit on January 31 when Johnathon Paul Jones was intoxicated and collided head-on driven with a vehicle driven by, Taylor McCowan, killing her.

This week, Jones was indicted in a charge of intoxication manslaughter.

Early morning crash sends 2 people to the hospital

TEMPLE, TX – An accident was reported early Friday morning that involved two individuals, leaving one in critical condition, according to KWTX.

The driver and passenger of the accident were traveling westbound on West Adams Avenue close to Apache Drive around 5:30 a.m.

The passenger was ejected from the vehicle and is in critical condition while the driver only suffered from minor injuries.

Both victims were transported to Scott and White Medical Center.

One dead after being struck by airplane at Austin airport

AUSTIN, TX – According to KXAN, a person who was on the runway of Austin-Bergstorm International Airport was hit and killed by a Southwest passenger airplane that was landing.

The crew of the Southwest flight reported seeing an unauthorized individual on the runway 17-Right at 8:12 p.m., according to a statement from ABIA.

The aircraft tried to avoid the individual on the runway.

Air traffic control workers state that they say a body on the runway that looked like a deceased male.

The Austin Police department responded to the scene at 8:16 p.m. and the man was pronounced dead at 8:41 p.m.

How and why the man got on the runway is still under investigation.

There were no injuries reported from the passengers on-board the flight.

Worker pronounced dead in industrial accident

WACO, TX – A worker for Time Manufacturing Co.’s Versalift Southwest is dead after an industrial accident, according to KXXV.

Waco authorities say that they were dispatched to the company’s offices, located at 1200 Texas Central Parkway, at around 9 a.m. on May 4.

Waco Officer Bynum said that many of the workers were handling heavy equipment when the incident occurred.

Waco police, fire department, and EMS responded to the scene.

The incident is still under investigation.
