SAN ANTONIO, TX – A man was severely injured this morning in west San Antonio after another driver ran a red light and crashed into him. The other driver may have been under the influence of alcohol.
According to KSAT, the accident happened near the intersection of Hunt Lane and Highway 151 at about 2:07 a.m. when a Mustang drove into the wrong lane of traffic at a high rate of speed. The Mustang failed to stop at a red light, then T-boned a minivan waiting at the light, which then collided with a pickup truck.
The driver of the minivan was trapped within the wreckage and had to be extricated by emergency teams using the jaws of life. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. A passenger in the minivan was also sent to the hospital for treatment of non-critical injuries.
The drivers of the Mustang and the pickup truck were not injured in the collision.
The Mustang’s driver is suspected of having been driving under the influence.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
