Texas man kills pedestrian, keeps driving with body inside car
AUSTIN, TX – Shocking details from a February hit-and-run incident are emerging, KSAT reports.
Paul Joseph Garcia, 24, was driving down Slaughter Lane in Austin when his 2014 Ford Focus struck a pedestrian pushing a shopping cart.
The victim, 55-year-old Lee Martin Cagle, was hit with such intensity that his body crashed through the windshield and into the passenger seat next to Garcia.
Garcia continued driving for about half a mile with Cagle’s corpse in the car, then walked into a local beer garden, according to police report.
When the police arrived at the beer garden, Garcia had blood on his shirt that matched Cagle’s.
Garcia has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.
The Texas Alcohol and Beverage Commission is investigating where Garcia had been drinking before he hit Cagle.
