Rush-hour collision closes lanes on I-35

AUSTIN, TX – Officials in South Austin were forced to shut down two lanes following a crash on Interstate 35 during Tuesday evening’s rush-hour traffic.

According to KXAN, the collision occurred on I-35 Northbound near the Stassney Lane overpass shortly before 5:00 p.m.

San Antonio man killed after jumping into traffic

SAN ANTONIO – A man in San Antonio was killed after being struck by a vehicle on San Antonio’s north side late Monday night.

According to KENS, the incident occurred on Loop 410 eastbound near Vance Jackson road at around 11:10 p.m.

Witnesses told police that they saw the individual leap into traffic before getting struck by a passing car. The driver involved in the collision is not expected to face any charges.

Police believe the incident could have been a possible suicide. The identity of the man involved has not yet been released.

Bicyclist killed after crash on SH 71

Elderly victim identified in fatal pedestrian crash

AUSTIN, TX – Police in North Austin have identified the elderly man who was killed in an auto vs pedestrian collision on Friday, July 17th.

According to police, Ronnie Dawson Lindsey, 72,  was struck while attempting to cross the street within the 800 block of East Rundberg Lane shortly before 9:45 a.m. Lindsey was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center where he died several days later, on July 24th.

No word on whether any charges will be filed against the driver has been released as of yet.

Victim identified in fatal I-35 crash

AUSTIN, TX – Officials with the Austin Police Department have identified the teen killed in a single-vehicle collision along Interstate 35 north of downtown on Tuesday, July 28th.

According to the Austin American Statesman, Alejandro Huerta Hernandez, 17, was killed after colliding with a concrete barrier within the 10500 block of the I-35 service road northbound shortly before midnight.

Officers responded last Tuesday at 11:50 p.m. to the 10500 block of the highway’s northbound service road, just south of Braker Lane, for a crash involving one vehicle.

Upon their arrival on the scene, officials pulled Hernandez from the vehicle and began to attempt life-saving measures. Unfortunately, they were unsuccessful and Hernandez died at the scene shortly before 1:00 a.m.

Person sent to hospital after jumping from Congress Bridge

AUSTIN, TX – A person was injured and taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon after reportedly jumping from the Congress Avenue Bridge and into the lake below, according to the official Twitter account of the Austin-Travis County EMS.

The accident happened on Cesar Chavez and Congress at 4:41 p.m.

The patient was brought to shore with the help of kayakers on the scene and then taken to Dell Seton for the treatment of injuries that were deemed potentially serious, but not likely to be life-threatening.

Two injured in Burnet Rd motorcycle collision

AUSTIN, TX – Two people were injured, one critically, in an accident involving a car and a motorcycle today near the Brentwood area, according to the official Twitter account of the Austin-Travis County EMS.

The accident happened in the 5700 block of Burnet Road at 8:52 p.m.

One person was seriously hurt in the collision and is being treated for life-threatening injuries at Dell Seton.

Another victim received non-critical injuries, though officials had yet to determine if they would be taken to the hospital or not.

The circumstances of the crash and the identities of the victims have not been made public at this time.
