Man accused of fatal hit and run blames another driver

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A man involved in a fatal hit-and-run that left a woman dead is saying the accident was caused by another driver, The San Antonio Express-News reports.

Justin Antwan Jackson, 29, was arrested after he failed to stop and render aid following a fatal May 22 accident on the North Side.

Jackson was driving a truck on I-10 near Dominion Drive when he struck a stalled Ford Fiesta that had its hazard lights flashing.

He told police he had been trying to avoid another vehicle entering his lane and did not see the Ford Fiesta until it was too late.

Jackson then fled the scene, but said he was trying to chase down the vehicle that crossed into his lane.

Police officers found the 18-wheeler about 20 miles away at the intersection of Bowie and Crockett streets. The trailer was missing the front bumper and even had pieces of the victims vehicle stuck beneath.

When police approached Jackson, he lied and said he was a passenger and had been sleeping in the cab when the crash occurred.  Jackson also mentioned that he did not know the Ford Fiesta was occupied by anyone at the time.

Jackson said his employer told him to lie about the accident, whom he contacted after the crash.
