The traffic hazard was first reported this afternoon and appears to be causing delays on the roadway. Drivers in the area may wish to avoid the highway until the obstruction is cleared. Traffic is currently backed up till Mopac.

Multiple injuries reported in Lago Vista plane crash

LAGO VISTA, TX – Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety have reported three injuries resulting from a single-engine plane crash in northwest Austin Monday night.

According to the Associated Press, the plane crashed while approving the Lago Vista Airport on a trip from Brownsville which was about 370 miles away.

Two people in their 60s and one in her 30s were all rushed to local hospitals in stable condition. No updates regarding their status have been made available as of yet.

Details regarding the cause of the crash are still being investigated.

Injured hiker hospitalized after an accident on the River Place Trail

TRAVIS COUNTY, TX – Emergency services in Travis County responded to a land rescue situation on the River Place Trail resulting in one person being hospitalized Thursday afternoon.

According to the official Twitter page of Austin-Travis County EMS, the incident occurred along the trail near 4988 River Place Boulevard at about 1:15 p.m.

One person extracted from the trail and transported to a local hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Details regarding what may have caused the accident have yet to be released.

Hiker injured in Barton Creek Greenbelt

AUSTIN, TX – Officials with Austin-Travis County emergency services transported one person to the hospital after extracting them from the greenbelt Tuesday night.

According to the official Twitter page of Austin-Travis County EMS, officials were called to initial reports of an unconscious person on the Barton Creek Greenbelt shortly after 7:30 p.m.

 

Upon their arrival, officials made contact with an adult patent who was conscious and prepped them for transport to a local hosptial.

The patient was extracted and taken to a local hosptial to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Details regarding what caused the accident have yet to be released.

Person injured after falling off greenbelt in SW Austin

AUSTIN, TX – A person was rescued by emergency crews Sunday afternoon after falling from the Bee Hive Wall greenbelt, according to the official Twitter account of the Austin-Travis County EMS.

The incident happened at 12:12 p.m. at 4425 South MOPAC Expressway service road, in the Barton Creek Greenbelt area, after an adult fell about 15 feet onto the trail.

Emergency crews used a “big wheel” stretcher to move the patient from the trail.

The victim, who has yet to be publicly identified by authorities, was taken to St. David’s South Austin Medical Center with injuries described as potentially serious.

No other people were injured in the accident.

Driver crashes into power line, knocks out power to several San Antonio homes

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A vehicle collided with an electrical pole in north San Antonio leaving a number of homes and businesses without power early Friday morning.

According to KENS, the incident occurred near the Domino’s Pizza at the intersection of West Avenue and Wood Valley shortly after 3:00 p.m.

Police say the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed when they lost control of their vehicle and collided with the pole knocking it over. The driver was transported to the hospital to be treated for a serious head injury. Their injuries are not expected to be life-threatening at this time.

Power was returned to the homes and businesses about an hour after the crash.

Three Parks and Wildlife employees dead, pilot injured in helicopter crash

ALPINE, TX (BREWSTER COUNTY) – Three employees of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department died Saturday after a helicopter crashed in Brewster County, located in West Texas.

According to KXAN, the accident happened while the three men were performing surveys in the Black Cap Wildlife Management Area for desert bighorn sheep.

The three victims, described in a statement by the executive director of TPWD as “highly regarded,” are Bob Dittmar, a veterinarian, Brandon White, an expert on fish and wildlife, and Dewey Stockbridge, a biologist.

The private contractor pilot of the helicopter survived the crash and has been taken to the hospital for the treatment of unspecified injuries. His current condition was not made available.

The exact circumstances that led to the crash have not been made public at this time.

The accident is under investigation by multiple agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration.

Victim identified in fatal South Austin pedestrian crash

AUSTIN, TX – Authorities with the Austin Police Department identified the female pedestrian killed in a South Austin collision in early July.

According to KXAN, 71-year-old Charlotte Dukes was struck by the driver of a Honda Civic within the eastbound lanes of Stasseney Lane near the intersection with Mira Lane on July 10th.

Dukes was hospitalized for 20 days before succumbing to her injuries on July 30th. The driver involved in the collision remained on the scene of the crash and continues to cooperate with the police.

Person sent to hospital after jumping from Congress Bridge

Collision closes lanes on North Lamar Blvd.

AUSTIN, TX – North Austin officials were forced to shut down a portion of North Lamar Boulevard following an afternoon crash Wednesday.
